A 100% Made in Marseille soap
Presented in its most authentic and minimalist form, our Savon de Marseille offers a natural, healthy and effective alternative for the whole family and household cleaning.
Traditional cauldron-cooked soapmaking
Our soap is crafted in cauldrons using the traditional Marseille method, a know-how passed down from generation to generation in our soap factory since 1856. This slow cooking process ensures an extra pure soap with a minimum of 72% vegetable oils, delivering all its renowned benefits for the skin.
A natural, hypoallergenic soap
Formulated exclusively with vegetable oils, it contains no added preservatives, colorants, fragrances, or animal fats.
Biodegradable and non-polluting, gentle on the environment.
The older the soap gets, the more concentrated and effective it becomes. This longevity makes it an eco-friendly alternative to chemical cleaning and hygiene products.
The Savonnerie Fer à Cheval is a founding member of the UPSM (Union of Marseille Soap Professionals).
Mattress
To keep a mattress fresh and clean, simply wipe the surfaces with a washcloth dampened with Marseille soap. Then wipe with a cloth dampened with clean water to rinse and let it dry all day.
Leather Sofa Care
Apply Marseille soap to a damp washcloth or a well-wrung cloth, then gently massage the leather in circular motions. Dry with a clean cloth. This cleaning will bring suppleness and longevity to the leather.
Wooden Deck
Regularly remove mold, dirt, and pollution that has accumulated on your deck by washing it with a stiff brush, a basin of hot water, and a handful of diluted soap flakes. This simple and effective cleaning will help maintain your deck over time.
For Laundry Care:
Homemade Laundry Detergent Recipe
Dilute a handful or 40g of soap flakes in 1L of hot water and stir until a gel forms. The laundry detergent is ready to use.
Store in a suitable bottle and shake well before each use.For tough stains
Dilute 100g of flakes in 2L of hot water, add 1 cup of baking soda and ½ cup of white vinegar. Let cool and shake well before use.
Generally, rub dry stains, shirt collars, and cuffs with damp soap before machine or hand washing.
For more stubborn stains, proceed in the same way but let it sit for a few hours before washing.
Other tips:
Makeup brushes and sponges
Regular washing will remove dust particles and makeup residue that have accumulated over time.
Gently lather the brushes with soap, being careful not to press too hard to avoid breaking the bristles. Repeat the washing process until the water runs clear. Dry them with a dry cloth, then turn them upside down so the brushes regain their original shape.Strollers, Baby Equipment
Hypoallergenic, Marseille soap is ideal for cleaning baby equipment such as strollers. Machine wash removable covers with Marseille soap flakes. For non-removable bed covers, wash with a sponge dampened with soap. For stubborn, smelly stains, rub with soap and a little baking soda, let it sit for a few hours to loosen the dirt, then rinse. Allow to air dry completely.
Shoes
Scrub your shoes with a soft brush dampened with warm water and Marseille soap, and allow to air dry without rinsing.
Storing Marseille Soap
Store Marseille soap in a cool, dry place. It is a natural product with a color and shape that can change over time and depending on its exposure to air, humidity, and light. However, it will retain all its qualities and effectiveness. Our grandmothers used to leave it to dry for months in their closets so that it would become extra dry and last longer.
